CHRISTIE'S

Christie’s fine art auction house

Christie’s auction house was established in London more than 240 years ago by James Christie. Today the auction house is a renowned international organization that conducts some of the most important auctions in the world. The Christie’s brand exudes quality and prestige, while honouring the traditional values established throughout its illustrious history.

Currently, Christie’s holds more than 450 sales a year in over 80 categories, including fine art, jewellery, photography, wine, and collectibles. As the auction house of choice for influential art connoisseurs and collectors, Christie’s is anticipating the future by organizing initiatives in emerging markets as well as expanding auction categories and value ranges of sales.

Unique synergies between art and high-end real estate

An inventive lead-generation system between Christie’s and Christie’s International Real Estate creates a mutually beneficial synergy between art and real estate, building a world-class platform for the highly targeted marketing of distinguished properties.

The marketing of fine art and high-end real estate proved to be a natural combination, resulting in a real estate marketing powerhouse driven by the passion and success of the Christie’s name and the local connections and expertise of highly qualified brokers.

Today the Christie’s International Real Estate network comprises 134 affiliated brokerage companies with 1000 offices in 42 countries. With millions of visitors, the Christie’s International Real Estate website, www.christiesrealestate.com, consistently ranks among the top results on major search engines. The average list price on the website is US 3.5 million with more than one million page views per month.

The company has central hubs in London and New York; field offices in Beverly Hills, California, and Palm Beach, Florida; an operations centre in Santa Fe, New Mexico; and circa 134 Affiliates in Europe; North, Central, and South America; and the Caribbean as well as Asia, Africa, and Oceania.

“Through our close relationship with Christie’s International Real Estate brokers around the world and the Christie’s action house, we have been able to find international buyers for several of Ticino’s most exclusive estates.” Maurice Elst, co-owner and joint managing director.

Christie’s International Real Estate represents some of the most prestigious trophy properties in the world, which include estates, resort properties, second and third homes, and super-prime new-build developments, all priced above US$1 million. Properties have included Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Trump Tower Residence in New York City; Lyons Demesne, the historic Irish landmark fully restored by Dr. Tony Ryan; Ingmar Bergman’s island retreat in Sweden; and the Astor Beechwood Mansion in Newport, Rhode Island.

Among the most valuable properties currently in the Christie’s International Real Estate portfolio are Palais Montmorency on Avenue Foch in Paris, France, valued in excess of US$100 million, and Cornwall Terrace, the historic Grade I–listed Regency terrace in The Regent’s Park, London, which was recently voted the most significant luxury property development in the United Kingdom.
